The air we breathe on board is an integral part of the boating experience. For this reason, Planus developed AirEx, the innovative patented system that eliminates odours and bioaerosols at their source during toilet use, improving bathroom air quality and enhancing guest comfort.

Unlike traditional systems, which rely solely on room air exchange, AirEx operates directly inside the toilet bowl, extracting aerosols and unpleasant odours before they can spread into the surrounding environment. The extracted air is then conveyed outside the vessel through a high-performance, low-noise extractor, helping to keep the bathroom fresher, more hygienic and more pleasant to use.

It is known that bacteria are generated in grey water tanks that produce bad smells which, in addition to the olfactory discomfort, are unhealthy. The propagation of bad smells in the rooms through the wastewater pipes is avoi- ded by means of the siphons which, due to the principle of the “hydraulic cap”, prevent the passage of gases. The functioning of the siphons is guaranteed by the presence of water inside them, which is subject to evaporation when the boat is not being used, especially in the hottest periods. Safety regulations state that general electricity must be switched off when the crew is not on board.
