1980
Marco Giovannini, founder of Planus SpA, began his career in 1980 in the family business, which produced ceramic sanitaryware for the residential sector. Thanks to his entrepreneurial skills, he led the company to rapid growth and international expansion.
1988
Thanks to the experience gained in the family business, Marco Giovannini invented and developed the first marine toilet equipped with the Vortex system.
1991
He founded his first company to promote this new system in the marine market.
1997
With the founding of his second company, the toilet with the Vortex system established itself in a market where shipyards had previously favoured other operating systems.
2000
Building on this success, he began designing and marketing products for residential use.
2009
He founded Planus S.p.A
2010
He designed and developed automatic pumping systems for grey water on board boats.
2012
The company’s growth led to the creation of a major Research and Development department.
2015
Planus began collaborating with Geberit to create a next-generation product in terms of functionality and comfort: the first marine toilet with a multifunction seat.
2017
The new luxury collection was created, completely redefining the design of all product lines to offer solutions aligned with contemporary needs.
2020
Design and development of Toilé, the first toilet with integrated air extraction, designed to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria while completely eliminating bad odours.
2021
Design and development of the AIREX system, enabling Toilé technology to be applied in the marine sector.
2022
Design and development of the first domestic toilet that makes it possible to create a complete bathroom by discharging wastewater from the toilet, bidet, washbasin and shower through the macerator integrated into the toilet itself.
2023
Planus developed AIRSTOP, its first safety and control product for boats.
2025
The DROP range of products for the management of condensate from air conditioners, boilers and heat pumps was launched. In particular, CALDROP and AIRDROP were introduced to the market.

At this 800 sqm facility, all the company’s Research and Development activities, marketing operations and showroom are concentrated. The decision to open an office in Rome was driven by the desire to strengthen the company’s connection with the universities of Rome, which provide specialised professionals who join the Planus team and represent the future of the company. The facility is also strategically located for visitors, with direct connections to Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport as well as the main railway stations. It is also easy to reach by car, as the site is located close to the A1 motorway exit.

At the Civita Castellana manufacturing site, the historic heart of sanitaryware production, all Planus products are assembled, from ceramic toilets to macerating boxes. Planus also manufactures in-house the pumps and electric motors used in its products. All Planus products are Made in Italy and assembled in our facilities using Italian components.
